Perfect Peel After Care
The Perfect Derma™ Peel - Patient Post-Peel Instructions
Days 1 – 2: The treated area will feel tight and may appear slightly darker.
The day of the peel application is “Day 1.” The peel solution should remain on the treated areas for at least 6 hours. During the first 6 hours, do not wash, touch, rub or apply make-up to the treated area.
The Perfect Derma Moisturizer with 1% hydrocortisone (included in Patient Home Care Kit) may be used after 6 hours if:
The skin feels excessively irritated
Patient is Fitzpatrick Type 4-6 or has melasma
The Perfect Derma Plus or The Perfect Clear booster was added to the peel treatment
If you are not experiencing any irritation or discomfort, the peel solution can remain on until your evening cleansing.
Day 2 (AM): Gently wash and dry the treated area. Vigorously apply the 1st Post-Peel
Towelette to the treated areas. Let dry thoroughly. Towelette solution should be left on for 30 minutes before applying Mineral SPF 30. Make up may be applied if desired.
Day 2 (PM): 30-60 minutes before bedtime, gently wash and dry the treated
area. Vigorously apply the 2nd Post Peel Towelette to the treated areas. Leave the solution on overnight.
If you are experiencing irritation or discomfort, or Fitzpatrick 4-6, apply a small amount of The Perfect Derma Moisturizer 2-3 times daily. You may also apply a cold compress against the irritated area for relief. Fitzpatrick’s 1-3: If there is no significant irritation, do not use any moisturizing products on the treated areas until peeling begins (usually Day 3). Avoid excessive sweating, sauna or heavy exercise during the peeling process.
Days 3 – 6: Peeling generally begins on Day 3.
After peeling begins, apply The Perfect Derma Moisturizer (included in the Patient Home Care Kit) to the treated areas 2-3 times a day to control the peeling and relieve the tightness. This moisturizer should be used for one week for Caucasian patients
Use for two weeks for Asian, Hispanic and African American patients.
If The Perfect Derma Moisturizer runs out, a 1% hydrocortisone cream may be
substituted.
Do not rub, pick or pull on the peeling skin, let the peeling occur naturally. Rubbing, picking or pulling may cause scarring.
Gently wash (do not scrub) and dry the treated area morning and night, and apply The Perfect Derma Moisturizer as needed. MD Solar Mineral Creme SPF 30 or an SPF 30 should be applied every 2 hours during sun exposure.
Days 7 and After: The peeling process is generally complete. Mild sloughing may still be occurring in some treated areas. Continue to protect the skin with SPF 30.
Cool Peel or Dermaplaning After Care
Environ Cool Peel® – Patient Post-Peel Instructions
Days 1-2
You may feel tightness, mild discomfort and your skin may appear slightly darker or pinkish.
Continue not to apply active make-up to the treated area for the first 24 hours (and ideally up to 48 hours depending on skin type).
Cleanse gently once daily (use a mild, non-foaming, pH-balanced cleanser).
Apply a gentle moisturiser supporting barrier repair (vitamins, antioxidants) as recommended by your therapist.
Use broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF30+ at minimum) when outdoors, and wear protective clothing/hats.
Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and excessive sweating.
Days 3-6
Peeling or “sand-paper” textured skin may begin. Redness should be reducing.
Cleanse gently morning and night. Use your recommended moisturiser 2-3 times daily or as needed if skin feels tight or dry.
Continue, and do not skip, daily sunscreen every morning (and reapply if outdoors) — skin is more photo-sensitive.
Avoid harsh exfoliants (AHAs/BHAs), scrubs, strong toners, alcohol based products.
Do not pick, rub or pull peeling skin — letting it shed naturally reduces risk of scarring or pigmentation.
Avoid additional aggressive treatments (waxing, laser, strong facials) until your skin has fully stabilised.
Day 7 and Beyond
The major peeling phase is typically complete. You may still have mild flaking in some areas.
You can gradually reintroduce gentle actives when approved by your therapist (e.g., vitamin A, mild acids) but only when skin barrier feels normal.
Continue daily sunscreen use and protective measures.
Maintain skin health with gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection long-term.
If you plan further treatments (e.g., injectables, other peels) allow at least 2 weeks (or as advised) between the Cool Peel and any other aggressive skin procedure.
Summary of “Do’s & Don’ts”
Do:
Use gentle cleanser and moisturiser supporting skin barrier.
Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning and reapply if outdoors.
Wear prote6ctive clothing/hats when exposed to sun.
Let the skin heal naturally—no picking or peeling.
Stay hydrated and sleep on a clean pillowcase.
Don’t:
Use makeup (especially heavy or active makeup) for at least first 24-48 hours (or as advised).
Use exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs), retinoids, strong cleansers, scrubs until skin is healed.
Use saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms or heavy exercise that induces sweating in the first 24-48 hours.
Pick, rub, scratch or peel the skin.
Skip sun protection — treated skin is more vulnerable to UV damage.
Notes for Your Skin Type
If you have darker skin (e.g., Fitzpatrick IV-VI) you may have slightly longer peeling or recovery, and extra caution with sun exposure and pigmentation risk is recommended.
If you have very sensitive skin, ask your therapist if a milder version of the peel was used, and whether to use extra calming products (e.g., barrier repair creams) in the early days.
If you develop unexpected symptoms (e.g., lasting redness beyond 48 hours, swelling, pain, oozing, blisters) contact your skincare professional promptly.
